5 perfect Ohio State drives — Deep dives on the Buckeyes’ offense and defense from the College Football Playoff: Buckeye Talk

COLUMBUS, Ohio — On the latest episodes of Buckeye Talk, the Ohio State offense and defense got thorough looks as Doug Lesmerises, Nathan Baird and Stephen Means dug into what went right and wrong for the Buckeyes on both sides of the ball against Georgia in the College Football Playoff semifinal in the Peach Bowl.

On the defense episode, there were questions like, was the view of the defense better or worse than it seemed right after the game?

First, (0:40) the guys talked about a defender lost and a defender added in the transfer portal.

Then (13:15) they looked at how the defensive line played and how often defensive coordinator Jim Knowles made aggressive play calls and how often he was more conservative.

Lastly, (51:24) the big plays given up by the Buckeyes were dissected to find which ones were great Georgia plays and which were issues with Ohio State.

On the offense podcast, the discussion started (0:30) with the idea of Ohio State’s five perfect drives against Georgia, and then moved into the limited use of the OSU run game.

Then (17:55) it was a discussion of C.J. Stroud’s big game. That was followed (29:14) but how the Buckeyes handled Georgia All-American defensive tackle Jalen Carter. Then came talk (33:57) of the OSU receivers vs. the Georgia secondary.

Miyan Williams talk (36:15) then popped in, before the guys started digging into every OSU drive (38:09).

Marvin Harrison’s injury and the targeting call that was reversed on the play got an interlude (49:57) before things returned (59:50) to Ohio State’s final drives of the game.
